Tips for blackhead removal

The quest for flawless skin can feel endless. We wash, scrub and exfoliate our faces but every once in awhile an imperfection or two can pop up.

Common and annoying, blackheads occur when your pores become clogged with excess sebum (an oil created by the sebaceous glands that keeps skin supple) and dead skin cells. Scrubbing your face obsessively is not a good way to get rid of your blackheads, and is only going to make it worse as you’ll just end up drying out your skin, which will cause more oil to be created to make up for everything you stripped away, and then it’s a vicious cycle!

Essential oils are excellent for blackhead removal. Essential oils not only have astringent properties but they also help balance sebum production over time and reduces blackheads to a considerable extent!

A few drops of lavender essential oil and/or tea tree essential oil can be applied undiluted directly onto blackheads as an overnight treatment that will kill bacteria and help dissolve blackheads. If your skin is ultra-sensitive, you can combine a few drops of essential oil with a carrier oil like jojoba or rosehip. Tea tree oil has been found to work as well as benzoyl peroxide, a common over-the-counter treatment for blackhead removal.

1. Tea Tree oil - Packed with astringent properties, Tea Tree is great at balancing the skin’s natural oil levels with promoting clear skin.

2. Lavender oil - A natural cleanser, French Lavender helps purify the skin. It  also has an incredible aroma and is sure to soothe your skin.and keep it free from dirt and hence prevent clogging pores.

You are sure to see those small yet annoying blackheads clear up in no time!
